12 in 2012

First – massive congratulations from me to Ross and Chris for their epic success in the Accelerace Challenge. Back in London I was on the edge of my seat throughout… But now they have both moved to the Southern Hemisphere, I thought that I would tackle a very modest challenge of my own in their absence. I’ve spent a while thinking about this. It had to have a 2012 theme. Had to take me to some interesting places (although just within the UK was ok). Had to be challenging. Should not require holiday to achieve.

And I have come up with 12 in 2012. One marathon a month for a year. For me the most appealing thing about this is all the places I can see in the UK (and possibly elsewhere), as well as the changing seasons/weather/terrain.

I’ve got a few pinned down already – Gloucester in January, Cambridge Boundary Run in February (or March, the date isn’t confirmed yet), the Neolithic Marathon, the Duchy Marathon… I am (largely) looking for events that are the opposite of the London Marathon. So if anyone has any must-do secrets up their sleeve just let me know.

I’m just wondering if I’ll have energy for the Kalmar Tri in there as well… Full schedule to be posted once confirmed.
